Recently I had the pleasure of visiting Glasgow as my aunt Yvonne (chief bridesmaid to my cousin Denise) planned and organised a weekend stay to Glasgow for Denise’s Hen Party and wow am I glad she did, from start to finish I think each and every one of us had a ball. Glasgow is Scotland’s largest city and is famous for its friendly welcome, stunning architecture and amazing nightlife and it sure didn’t disappoint.
Where we stayed and what we did:
We stayed central which was perfect as no taxis were needed and by foot we were able to navigate around the city. As I’m sure you’ve all guessed on a hen party there is drink, drink and more drink but we did manage to have a spot of shopping and we also embarked on a Hop on Hop off Tour as it’s a great way of seeing the city yet without ‘hopping-off’ we did the entire tour in around 1hour 30 minutes – 2 hours and we got to see 21 of the city’s finest attractions during that time which was ideal. Our main haunts though were Missoula and Club Tropicana & Vogue Nightclub. Missoula was a lively bar with DJ’s until late and Club Tropicana & Vogue Nightclub had all the best 80’s and 90’s dance music under one roof.
Where we ate:
Radisson Blu Hotel, Glasgow: This hotel was stunning and so central and the food was divine even as a vegetarian I was pleasantly surprised by their menu, for starters I had butternut squash soup with choice of toppings and fresh bread followed by a wild mushroom lasagne with sweet potato fries (mouth is watering even now thinking about it) and the lady that served us was so helpful and friendly.
McDonalds: What’s a trip away if you don’t sample their local McDonalds, as always perfect.
The Crystal Palace: is a Wetherspoon pub that offers a range of real ales, craft beers and freshly ground Lavazza coffee plus breakfast and this is where we enjoyed breakfast and they offered a vegetarian fry with Quorn sausages so yet again I was pleasantly surprised.
Overall, without going into too much detail of all the fun and shenanigans we had, I highly recommend Glasgow not only for hen parties but also to visit for couples, families and shopping trips. It’s so affordable for flights and accommodation for a weekend stay and the people are so friendly and the nightlife is top class. We truly had a fantastic weekend and laughed from start to finish so keep Glasgow in mind ladies for hen madness.
Thanks for reading, roll on the wedding now.
