Castlemartyr Resort

I hadn’t intended on writing a travel blog but I couldn’t but not write about the fantastic luxury 5 star Castlemartyr Resort in County Cork. Seeing as my hubby and I were celebrating our first wedding anniversary we had a last-minute decision to treat ourselves to a night away and what better place than the renowned Castlemartyr Resort and it sure lived up to the hype.

The room was the real wow factor, we stayed in a deluxe room, which was beautifully designed and furnished in a contemporary style. It had a very sizeable dressing area with plenty of storage space. The bathroom was very spacious and had a separate rainforest shower, with full bath, marbled topped double vanity and separate toilet. The curtains in the bedroom was motorised and was controlled by a touch panel located in the drawer of the bedside locker which opened and closed the curtains and turned on and off certain lights in the room. Also, included in the bedroom was a Nespresso machine with a variety of different capsules.

We decided to have Lady Fitzgerald’s Afternoon Tea which was served at the Bell Tower Restaurant which included a sweet start, assortment of finger sandwiches, baker’s tier and patisserie selection and a choice of different teas. It was simply divine.

For our evening meal, we opted for Franchini’s which is there casual dining Italian restaurant which offers an extensive Italian menu with pizzas, pastas and risotto dishes. After our meal in Franchini’s we went to the Knight’s Bar which had a real cosy, warm atmosphere, it had a vast array of alcoholic beverages including cocktails, whiskeys and much more.

Our breakfast was served in the Bell Tower Restaurant the following morning and had a buffet style continental breakfast layout for the cereals, breads, juices etc. and then a full choice optional breakfast menu including a full Irish breakfast, a vegetarian breakfast which is rare to see (me being a vegetarian) and much more.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to sample the spa amenities but their menu of spa treatments is a must which I will definitely sample on my next visit. There are numerous activities to keep you entertained including golfing, carriage rides, horse riding, fishing, archery and laser clay pigeon shooting. There is also walking trails within the estate.

I also must mention the staff at the Castlemartyr as they were so friendly and couldn’t do enough, everyone from the front office team to the servers.

Really recommend this luxury resort to any couple looking for some R&R, a girlie getaway or staycation for your honeymoon.

Thank you for taking the time to read all about our stay at the Castlemartyr Resort.
